Dr. Suess, Beatrix Potter and J.K. Rowling will have to move over for Keith Richards , as the legendary Rolling Stones guitarist is about to publish a children’s book.

The book is called 'Gus & Me: The Story of My Granddad and My First Guitar'and is about Richards' grandfather, Theodore Augustus Dupree, who played in a jazz big band and introduced Keith to the world of music and gave him his first guitar.

This isn’t the first time that Richards has written a book, his 2010 tell all memoir Life was a best seller and sold over 2 million copies worldwide.

Why is the former hell-raiser getting into children’s literature? The answer is pretty simple and natural, he’s now a grandfather.

"I have just become a grandfather for the fifth time, so I know what I'm talking about," said Richards. "The bond, the special bond, between kids and grandparents is unique and should be treasured. This is a story of one of those magical moments. May I be as great a grandfather as Gus was to me."

Publisher Little, Brown Books for Young Readers said on Tuesday that the book will include illustrations by Richards' daughter Theodora Dupree Richards, who is named after her great grandfather.

"When I found out they wanted me to be a part of this project, my immediate instinct was to say yes, and I am so happy I did," said Theodora. "To be able to explore my father's relationship with his grandfather was a gift in itself. The things that I’ve learnt during this whole process have just been life affirming.'

Barnaby Harris and Bill Shapiro are assisting with the writing of the book.

Gus & Me will be published as a hardcover and an e-book by Orion Children's Books on September 9 and will also contain photographs from the Richards family collection. The hardcover will be packaged with a CD that includes bonus content.
