Roll-up! Roll-up!

With it being little over a week since Radio 1 rocked the fields of Carlisle for their annual Big Weekend, the BBC station has announced details of next year’s super duper gathering.

The London 2012 Olympics is on everyone’s agenda for next summer, and Radio 1 will be hosting a free musical festival in the Capital in the run-up to the games. It will take place over two days on 23-24th June on Hackney Marshes in East London and will have a capacity for 100,000 gig goers, all for free, making it the biggest ever Radio 1 event. This morning the first of the acts set to play the mammoth event have been announced, they are Leona Lewis and Plan B. Obviously more will be named over the coming year.

The majority of tickets are expected to be dished out to locals of Hackney, whilst those who miss out can watch the event live on BBC3. What’s not to like?
