Shakira for Glastonbury?

When you think of Columbian belly dancer Shakira the first image that comes to mind isn’t of a mud spattered Glastonbury festival. In fact the idea of her pop sensibilities wobbling around on the Pyramid stage are possibly the last thing any music buff would think about. This hasn’t stopped Glasto organisers booking her to play this year’s 40th anniversary extravaganza, report efestivals.

The line up for Glastonbury was announced last week (U2, Muse and Stevie Wonder headline) but with some glaring TBA and TBC gaps in the schedule. One such gap was on the Saturday night of which Muse and Scissor Sisters are due to play. To warm up the crowd before the big guns come on, Shakira will now be wowing the crowd, just like she did with the X-Factor audience last year.

Talking about her festival debut she said: ‘I'm really looking forward to playing Glastonbury this year and being a part of their 40th anniversary. Glastonbury is famous for being one of the best festival crowds, so I'm sure I'll have a great’.

Glastonbury Festival 2010 is on 25th-27th June and is sold out - sorry Shakira fans.
