Shakira wants to record an album in Arabic

Colombian-born pop-star Shakira has spoken out about her desire to record a song, if not a whole album, in Arabic.

Speaking at a news conference in Morocco where she was headlining the Mawazine World Rhythms music festival the star, who has a Syrian background, spoke of her exposure to eastern divas as a child. The singer has gained popularity throughout the Middle East through her belly dancing antics and use of Middle Eastern melodies in songs like ‘Ojas Asi’.

The only thing that the ‘Hips don’t lie’ singer needs to overcome now is learning the language! She said: ‘It would be a challenge to do an album in Arabic, but I would first have to learn Arabic.’ Luckily though the famously philanthropic singer says she ‘[is] completely open to that experience - at some point I would love that to happen in my life.’
