Sinead O'Connor is footloose and, well almost fancy-free once more after her latest marriage ended. The singer announced the separation form her fourth husband less than three weeks after the wedding at a drive-thru in Las Vegas.
She hinted that friends or family of her short-term husband Barry Herridge were to blame for the failure of the marriage, although she admitted that an unconventional wedding night couldn't have helped.
“It was a bit of a wild ride I took us on looking for a bit of a smoke of weed for me wedding night as I don't drink,” she wrote on her blog. “My husband was enormously wounded and very badly affected by that experience and also by the attitude of those close to him toward our marriage."
The couple married in the Vegas chapel, after O'Connor put out an announcement on Twitter that she was looking for a boyfriend. “We made a mistake rushing into getting married, for altruistic reasons, and weren't aware or prepared for the consequences on my husband's life and the lives of those close to him. He has been terribly unhappy and I have therefore ended the marriage," she wrote.
O'Connor asked for the media to leave Herridge and his family alone. “I'm happy that I know we weren't horrible to each other and he is better off free. And that I can be me. And that's a freedom I can't give up for anyone or anything. Neither should my husband or anyone else."
