Soulja Boy takes down anti-soldier track

Americans are very funny about people criticising their military, or their military excursions: should you happen to give them any grief about some of their outrageous colonial behaviour, there's always someone swooping down about being 'disrespectful' of the troops.

Take Soulja Boy, for instance: his track 'Let's Be Real' contains some fairly tame anti-army lyrics, including the following; 'F**k the FBI and the army troops ... fighting for what? Be your own man, I'll be flying through the clouds with green like I'm Peter Pan.' This song has caused such a rumpus over there that he's decided not to put it on his next album. He made it quite clear that he was criticising the wars that the US government has embarked on, but that wasn't enough – he was forced into a humiliating climbdown.

'When I expressed my frustration with the US Army, not only did my words come out wrong, I was wrong to even speak them,' he said. 'So, I write this to give my sincerest apology to all members of the United States military services, as well as their families that were offended by my most recent lyrics.'
