Squire denial auctioned off

The piece of art that John Squire used to tell that world that The Stone Roses would not be reforming is going under the hammer next month.

The artwork/press release, which he called Statement and sent out to the papers in March, when rumours of the band's reformation started to circulate for the umpteenth time, is going to be auctioned off at Christie's saleroom in South Kensington, London on 1 July.

The former Roses guitarist's piece was an open coffin/crucifix with the words 'I have no desire whatsoever to desecrate the grave of seminal Manchester pop group The Stone Roses' scrawled over it, and is estimated to fetch somewhere inbetween £6,000-£8,000. Which is a lot.
