Teena Marie, RIP

The R&B world was saddened at the weekend to hear of the death of the influential R&B singer Teena Marie. Marie, who died in her sleep aged 54, was one of the first white artists to be signed to Motown records and scored an international hit in 1988 with 'Ooh La La La,' later sampled by the fugees for their hit 'Fugee La'.

Stars turned to Twitter to express their sadness. Roots member ?uestlove called her 'an amazing work of art,' while Prince drummer Sheila E urged fans to 'pray 4 her & her family.'

Not everyone got it right, though. Mary J Blige provoked ridicule when she misspelled Marie's name in a tweet, calling her Tina Mari. Oh dear...
