The best music festivals to get to this summer | July 2014

So Glastonbury has come and gone for another year so where to next for music lovers? Well, the good news is that July is jam-packed with music festivals all over Europe. Here are our top 3 picks to help make your decision easier.

Exit Festival - Serbia July 10-13

Located in Novi Sad, Serbia, EXIT festival is a non-stop party on the banks of the Danube river and was named the Best Major European Festival earlier this year. This gathering continues to grow year on year and attracts in the region of 200,000 people. This July you can see Skrillex, Damon Albarn, Jamiroquai, Rudimental, Suede, Example and Roger Sanchez among many, many more.

Benicassim - Spain July 17-20

If partying on the beach is your thing then get yourself over to Valencia in Spain for the Benicassim festival. This year will mark the 20th anniversary of the festival so it promises to be extra special. Catch top acts like Paulo Nutini, Lily Allen, Example, Tinie Tempah, Kodaline, Presidents of the United States of America, Manic Street Preachers and headliners Kasabian.

Latitude - UK July 17020

If Spain seems like too far of a trek then why not head to Suffolk and take in Latitude instead on the same weekend. A fantastic blend of music, comedy and theatre you can catch comedians such as Dara O Briain and Kevin Bridges on the same day that you rock out to The Black Keys or Damon Albarn. Other stellar music acts on show include Two Door Cinema Club, Kelis, Mogwai, Haim, The War on Drugs, Future Islands and George Ezra. You can catch theatre performances from the likes of Paines Plough, Royal Shakespeare Company, Never Try This At Home and Soho Theatre while comedians like Jack Dee, Simon Amstell, Al Murray, Tommy Tiernan and Alex Horne will tickle your funny bones.

There are a few other festivals that deserve honourable mentions too such as the Open’er Festival in Poland, Melt in Germany and the Montreux Jazz Festival in Switzerland. Glastonbury, despite the torrential downpours, was a roaring success this year with Dolly Parton stealing the show.
