The Specials play first date of comeback tour

The Specials played the first date of their comeback tour at the Newcastle Academy last night. The ska legends didn't disappoint with a set crammed full of hits from their classic 1979 self-titled debut album.

Fans were treated to stomping renditions of hits such as 'A Message To You Rudy', 'Gangsters', 'Rat Race', 'Ghost Town' and an encore of 'Too Much Too Young', 'Skinhead Moonstomp' and the classic 'Enjoy Yourself'.

Singers Terry Hall and Nevill Staple were in top form as were the rest of the band, but founding member and keyboard player Jerry Dammers has decided not to take part in the tour. The Specials continue the tour at the Sheffield Academy before hitting Birmingham, Glasgow, Manchester and finishing up with five-nights at London's Brixton Academy.
