Saucy pop songstress Kelis has revealed that she nearly quit the cold, hard, unforgiving music biz for a lighter, less stressful career – as a chef. The foxy fox, who clearly has a harder constitution than most people who enter the chef-ing game, nearly decided to take the new career path after she struggled to finish her last album, 2006’s ‘Kelis Was Here’.

Kelis is set to release her latest effort, ‘Flesh Tone’, on Monday, and she claims that taking time out to go to culinary school gave her a fresh perspective on working in the music industry which allowed her to reconnect with her artistic side. Which is about as clichéd and it gets, really.

‘I took four years off to have a little life between this album and my last album,’ Kelis told the Daily Record. ‘I studied to be a chef as a side thing, a little hobby that I enjoyed doing, but I ended up falling madly in love with the food and the lifestyle.

‘I needed a break and going to culinary school turned a lightbulb on that I didn't have to make music. The people in the music business forget that not only is there an entire world of people out there who do not care what we do, we are not creating the wheel.’
