U2 criticised for carbon footprint

Irish rock musical group and self styled saviours of the world U2 have come under fire from environmental campaigners due to the carbon emissions produced by their latest tour. The 44 date tour is set to produce an equivalent carbon footprint of a return mission to Mars.

"Looking at the 44 concerts, U2 will create enough carbon to fly all 90,000 people attending one of their Wembley dates (in London) to Dublin," environmental consultant Helen Roberts told the Belfast Telegraph. U2's projected CO2 emissions on tour are reported to be the equivalent of a lightbulb left on for over 159,000 years.

The news comes less than a year after Bono lectured the world on the need to "become better in looking after our planet." Pot and kettle and all that jazz Bonio.
