UK Charts

With there being less than three weeks until Christmas day, a whole string of wannabe festive number ones have released their xmas offering. Sunday’s (5 Dec) chart still sees The X-Factor hopefuls and their armed forces charidee single ‘Heroes’ retain the number one slot for the second week but will it have the legs to hold on for another 2 weeks?

Undoubtedly the answer will be a no, thanks to fierce competition from the reality TV shows ‘winner’s song’, along with the Cage Against The Machine campaign single which is a well backed 4mins 33secs of silence in protest to the X-Factor’s chart dominance. Another forerunner is the new festive single from Coldplay ‘Christmas Lights’ which chartered at the weekend at number 18 and will surely rise thanks to heavy radio play this week. The UK Christmas Number One will decided 1 week this Sunday.
