UK Charts

Another week, another couple of paragraphs needed about 2011’s soul sensation Adele: the Tottenham girl is once again dominating the album charts, with her second album ‘21’ still at number one (for the seventh week running), and her debut effort ‘19’ still at number four. Oh and by the way, ‘Rolling In The Deep’ cannot be budged from top spot in the singles charts either, leaving a trail of pop princesses – Lady GaGa, Jessie J and Rihanna – in her wake.

Meanwhile, in indie guitar pop news, both Elbow and veterans REM flew into the top ten of the album charts with new records: Elbow recorded their highest ever chart placing with ‘Build A Rocket Boys’, coming in a number two, while REM landed at number five. The irritating Bruno Mars can’t be budged either, with his gloopy ‘Doo Wops & Hooligans’ hanging around in at number seven. Bah.
