UK Charts

We so bored of talking about Adele sitting astride the top of the album charts like a soul-inflected colossus that we’ve decided to not talk about her any more. You can basically take it as read that she’ll be up there until we mention otherwise, and we’ll concentrate what’s happening under her poptastic posterior. This week folky strummer Fleet Foxes flew in at number two with ‘Helplessness Blues’, knocking ‘19’ down to third, while Beastie Boys’ 'Hot Sauce Committee Pt. 2' also went straight into the top ten. Good times.

In the singles chart there is still the hairy boil of LMFAO and their infernal ‘Party Rock Anthem’ in top spot, with the drab Bruno Mars tinkling along below him. It’s a pretty dull time in the world of pop at the moment: where’s the sparkle, the wit, the imagination?
