UK Charts

It's Monday morning, and that can mean only one thing (apart from the gloom that has set in with the passing of the sun – from here till February it really is going to be depressing): the weekly chart run-down. Excited? So are we. The big news of the week is that Noel Gallagher has gone straight to number one with his debut solo effort 'Noel Gallagher's High Flying Birds'. The record sold more than 120,000 copies in its first week, outselling Matt Cardles' 'Letters' by 40 per cent – that's some walloping. Maybe we were a bit hasty in writing off the former Oasis man as a dad rock bore? Probably not, no. Amazingly, Adele still seems to be hanging around, and Steps look set for a nice pay day with their 'Ultimate Collection'.

In the singles chart, Rihanna has held onto top spot for the third week running with 'We Found Love', her collaboration with British dance DJ Calvin Harris. As for the rest? Well it's all a bit boring this week, that's your lot – sorry.
