When Ellie Goulding was announced as the winner of the BBC Sound of 2010 (artists who are tipped to be big in 2010) a couple of questioning groans were heard. Since then, however, it’s been all good for the 23 year old singer songwriter. She won the Critics Choice Award at the Brit Awards, signed a mega deal with Polydor records and now has her very first UK No1 album.

Ellie’s debut full length album ‘Lights’ went straight to the top of the UK albums charts last night bumping Lady Gaga’s ‘The Fame’ to No2 and Alicia Keys ’The Element Of Freedom' to No3.

The UK singles chart also saw a new entry at No1 with ‘Pass out’ from Tinie Tempah, Rihanna’s ‘Rude Boy’ at No2 and Jason Derulo at No3. With ‘In My Head.
