Wacko Jacko concerts in jeopardy?

Michael Jackson recently announced that he would be performing 50 dates in a residency at London's O2 arena, to the apparent frenzy of his devoted followers, who snapped up every single ticket of the entire run within hours of them being released. But there's just one snag: no-one wants to insure the concerts.

The cover for the shows, which run for seven months from July, would have to be worth £300million, and AEG Live, who are promoting the the event, are still negotiating with insurers who are understandably reluctant to invest in a 50 year old man who hasn't toured in 12 years and was rumoured to be dying last year.

But the amusingly-named Randy Phillips, chief executive at AEG Live says they're willing to self insure to cover all the dates if necessary saying 'it's a risk we're willing to take to bring the King of Pop to his fans', before adding 'He's a vegetarian, they're healthy, right?' You'd better hope so Randy, or a few hundred thousand Wacko fans are going to hunt you down like a dog.
