When you think of Strictly Come Dancing, what instantly comes to your mind? Bruce Forsyth? Anne Widdecombe? Dancing? Anne Widdecombe trying to dance and dramatically failing? The Manic Street Preachers? No? Not the Manic Street Preachers?

Well, that’s what’s popped into the minds of the producers of the weekend prime-time BBC1 telly show. We have nothing but fondness for the Manics, but for them to appear of a silly dance show for stay-at-home-mums is a little too random for us top comprehend. The band were also surprised at the booking, saying on Twitter, ‘unbelievable – we have got Strictly Come Dancing on Sunday. Mass communication indeed. What to wear?’.

The band will appear on this Sunday’s (5 Dec) show at 7:30pm on BBC1. On the plus side, not enough people can hear their new single 'Some Kind Of Nothingness' - t’is more infectious than the common cold.
