We're not crying

Liam Gallagher’s new band Beady Eye hasn’t exactly got off to the best start: given a bit of a critical pasting for their (admittedly a bit rubbish) first couple of tracks, their first single didn’t exactly set the charts alight either, peaking at 31 before disappearing from the top 40.

However the band – and Liam Gallagher in particular – appear sanguine about this fact, with Gallagher himself saying he won’t be crying over its poor showing, and guitarist Andy Bell suggesting (somewhat implausibly) that ‘there is no such thing as 'hit singles' anymore’. You keep telling yourself that.

‘Let me say this - we're not sitting around crying, mate... It was a reality check,’ Liam said. ‘But that's the way it is. As far as comparing it to Oasis, let me tell you this, the f**king record's (album ‘Different Gear, Still Speeding’) only been released today so it could do as well as the Oasis records. But it's only been released today, so who knows where it'll go?’
