Whatever happened to the likely lads?

Anyone who says Pete Doherty is nothing but a drug-dealing scamp who needs a wash clearly hasn’t heard either of The Libertines albums. They’re both brilliant! When they burst on to the scene in a post-Strokes world they were the most exciting UK band around – thanks to flashmob gigs and the songs to back them up. In the end though Doherty’s drug affliction caused the band to prematurely call it day.

Having reformed for a skip full of cash for Reading/Leeds festivals last year any new Libertines material has so far been sadly non-existent. Unfortunately, it looks like it’s going to always be that way. Talking to the press at the premiere of a new Libertines documentary Carl Barat said; ‘right now is not the time for The Libertines. I thought the water under the bridge was under the bridge, but maybe it's not. It's a very f*&%ing hard thing. Every time we talk it just brings it back up.’

He added: ‘I don't believe we're healed from the hurt. If our herts heal up then we can break them all over again. But right now… it's hard.’

Oh well, there’s always those two album to reminisce over.
