Whitney Houston's daughter marries adopted brother

It seems that there’s always going to be controversy around Whitney Houston even nearly two years after her untimely death.

Houston, who was found dead in a room at the Beverly Hilton in Beverly Hills, California on 11th February, led a tragic life that was well documented. Her death was reported as an accidental drowning in the bath but heart disease was also blamed and a cocaine habit was also said to be a contributing factor. News of her death was met with an outpouring of love from the public who covered the streets outside the Beverly Hilton with flowers and wreaths. An invitation only memorial was held on 18th February 2012 during which musicians like Stevie Wonder, Kim Burrell and R. Kelly performed in remembrance of her.

Celebrities like Ricky Minor and Kevin Costner were at the ceremony and offered eulogies about the singer. According to reports at the time, Bobby Brown, Houston’s ex-husband, was also invited to the funeral, but he left before the ceremony at Fairview Cemetery in Westfield New Jersey.

Around the same time as Houston’s death, news came out that her daughter Bobbi Kristina Brown was in a relationship with Nick Gordon. Gordon had been officially adopted by Houston after he finished High School, so we’re not surprised that this marriage news has been greeted with more questions than congratulations. This week the couple announced the news on Twitter, accompanying the tweet with an image of rings on their fingers.

Despite the unusual family connection, both partners have been pretty open about their relationship and they’ve been very quick to challenge any questions from people who are against their union. According to Gordon, the marriage is what Houston would have wanted. There’s probably not as much controversy surrounding this as the couple think but it’s just another incident in the unusual life of Whitney Houston’s family.
