Yet more Xperia Play news

The tech world has quite literally been alight with rumour and since the Sony Xperia Play was revealed: ‘for the love of God, please give us the tech spcs!’ we can hear you all shouting. Day after day you beg us for more info on the new addition to the mobile gaming world, so we’re very happy to say that Sony have released the details. Wanna see them?

The screen is a four-inch capacitive touch screen with a 480x854 resolution. You’ll be able to play 3D games for up to five and a half hours, at which point we assume the battery packs up. Here are some more specs, in a handy list.

  • Size: 119 x 62 x 16 mm
  • Weight: 175 grams
  • Phone memory: 400 MB
  • Memory card support: microSD™, up to 32 GB
  • Memory card included: 8GB microSD™
  • Operating system: Google™ Android 2.3 (Gingerbread)
  • Processor: 1 GHz Scorpion ARMv7

As for games, they’ll be available on Android Marketplace, but the device will be shipped with Asphalt Adrenaline 6, Bruce Lee, Star Battalion, The Sims 3, and Tetris all pre-loaded, as well as a ‘legendary’ PlayStation game. We reckon Tomb Raider, as that’s the kind of game you want to show off the control system. Shame it only has analogue touch pads rather than sticks, though.
